About Wrap with Love

Wrap with Love Inc supplies wraps, quilts and other similar items for distribution to needy people and people suffering the effects of cold and trauma in Australia and worldwide. All Wrap with Love goods are supplied at no cost to distributors and must be delivered to the intended recipients at no cost.

Wrap with Love is run entirely by volunteers, and receives no government funding. There are no subscriptions, and wraps cannot be bought, sold, raffled or traded. Wrap with Love is non-denominational, non-racist and non-political. The organisation relies on donations of crafted goods, cash, craft and packaging supplies, transport and other services.

Wrap with Love aims to provide information to, and co-ordinate the efforts of, the many thousands of craft workers who donate completed wraps and squares.

Our History

In 1992 the late Sonia Gidley King, OAM, our founder, was recuperating from surgery and watching a TV program about the 16-year war in Mozambique. She wondered how she could help all the people who were so malnourished and dealing with temperatures between 0 and 45 degrees. She then had the idea of using the spare wool in her cupboards to knit simple squares which she then sewed into wraps of 28 squares, and so began Wrap with Love (WWL). She co-opted friends and aid agencies and her legacy is a positive organisation which has wrapped over 600,000 people in Australia and around the world.

Our Work

Volunteers attend the Alexandria warehouse, on either Wednesdays or Fridays to sort, pack and assemble wraps and to carry out administrative duties.

Area contacts willingly coordinate and communicate regularly with volunteer workers within their local area and collect and coordinate delivery of wraps to the warehouse.

Getting Wraps and Other Items to the Warehouse

There are a wide range of locations for the delivery of squares and wraps. Contact the warehouse for your nearest area contact or drop off at the warehouse: Unit 4, 4 Huntley St, Alexandria on Wednesday or Friday between 9:30am to 2:30pm from mid-January to mid-December.
