Stitch Pattern Instructions
For 8 ply yarn, two colour contrast, 10 inches (25 cm) square.
Cast on 56 stitches.
Knit 12 rows of garter stitch.
Keep a garter stitch border of 12 stitches on both sides (see diagram overleaf).
Kangaroo:
Knit 8 rows stocking stitch (32 stitches).
Begin the Kangaroo graph (30 stitches) within the 32 stitches of stocking stitch.
After completing the Kangaroo graph, knit 8 rows of stocking stitch (32 stitches).
Knit 12 rows of garter stitch and cast off.
